Steven Richards to once again drive Dad's former Nissan Skyline HR31 at the Phillip Island Classic.

Updated: Feb 16

Steven Richards will once again be in attendance at the Phillip Island Classic fresh off his appearance at the Taupo Historic GP in New Zealand. Last year's event was the first time he attended the event and is keen to come back for more.

The car he will be driving will be the Group A Nissan Skyline HR31. The same car his Dad Jim, took to victory in the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1990. This was the first ATCC victory for Nissan. Jim also once personally owned this vehicle before recently selling it.

Also attending the event his year will be the twin-turbo AWD Nissan GT-R R32 Skyline which in Australia was nick-named Godzilla for its domination in Australian touring car racing due to its AWD system absolutely dominating the competition.  The factory-backed Nissan GT-R R32 Skyline (not pictured below) would go on to take both the ATCC Championship and Bathurst two years in a row in 1991 and 1992.

Continuing on the Nissan theme will be a pair of Nissan Bluebird Group C cars driven and prepared by Brian Henderson and Adam Workman.

The 2024 Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motorsport will take place on March 8-10th at the famed Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Tickets at the gate. Patrons under 17 years of age are free to enter if accompanied by an adult.
